The first of 18 new Citadis trams was delivered to the
Dublin Railway Procurement Agency (RPA) in Ireland on 24
February. The tram, which was built in La Rochelle Alstom site,
was transported in two sections. After initial commissioning of
the first tram, which will take approximately one month, the
remaining 17 trams are expected to arrive at 2-weekly
intervals.

Alstom Transport had already delivered 40 trams for the Dublin
LUAS light rail system, they went into commercial service in
2004. This initial order was followed by a subsequent contract
for 18 Citadis trams signed in March 2007. In November 2008, an
option was exercised for a further 8 trams. This will take the
total Dublin fleet size to 66 Alstom trams by 2010.
