Since 14 December 2008, 6 new "Pendolino" trains (on a total
of 12 ordered in 2004 to Alstom) have been into revenue service
on three lines in the south of Italy.

These new seven-car trains can reach a top speed of 250 kph and
have a capacity of 430 passengers. They were manufactured in
the Alstom Italian site of Savigliano, with the contribution of
the sites of Sesto San Giovanni for traction converters, as
well as Bologna and Verona for signalling and radio. It is the
first time that a private company is assigned by Trenitalia the
full service for a new fleet.
