MARTA congratulates Alstom teams for the modernization of
its 218 metro cars

During a six-year long challenging program, Alstom has led
in its Hornells Manufacturing Center of Excellence in
New York State the total refurbishment of these trains.

Separated into two series with distinct car designs, in
aluminium, and in stainless steel, each car was stripped down
to the shell, and completely rebuilt from ground-up using new
components and systems (brakes, propulsion, communications
equipment, automatic train control, climate control systems,
etc.)

Interior feature has been enhanced, luggage areas have been
created, priority seating for elderly and disabled has been
installed, lighting has been optimized and tinted windows
replace the previous ones. This rehabilitation work greatly
improves the Atlanta metro 200,000 riders a days
experience.
