Trenitalias high speed trains are currently operating
on the new high speed lines linking Milan to Naples (through
Bologna, Florence and Rome) and Torino to Venice. These 62
trains were equipped in 2005 with an advanced onboard ERTMS
level 2 solution that ensures a high level of safety and
availability.

Alstom will provide the diagnostic, monitoring, assistance and
on-site maintenance of the onboard ERTMS level 2 equipments for
31 trains. The company will also provide the same services for
the GSM-R (voice) equipments mounted on the whole fleet (62
trains). The activities will be carried out by the Alstom site
of Bologna, engineering centre for railway signaling.

Alstom is committed to provide a comprehensive service
portfolio to railways to allow its customers to meet the
growing demand for safe and high speed travel. This new
contract strengthens Alstom Transports position as the
leader in the operational deployment of interoperability in
Europe. With over 740 trains equipped with Atlas solution and
over 25 million kilometres travelled in commercial service,
more than 7 trains out of 10 are running under Atlas
supervision across Europe. Currently, Alstom has more than 20
ERTMS projects in service in nine European countries, including
the Rome-Naples line in Italy, the first very high speed line
equipped with a Level 2 ERTMS system, the Mattesten-Rothrist
line in Switzerland, used by the biggest equipped fleet and the
freight line Betuwe Route in the Netherlands, part of Corridor
C.
