Alstom China awards outstanding students and teachers of
Huazhong University of Science and Technology

The awards are made in recognition of the students’
outstanding academic performance, and managerial and scientific
research talents of the two teachers. Mr. Burckbuchler
addressed that such awards is a fruitful step to enhance our
partnership with HUST, and we do hope this solid partnership
will bring students an extraordinary career pass in the
future.

In September 2007, Alstom China reached an agreement with
HUST, under which Alstom will provide financial support to
outstanding students and teachers of the Institute of Energy
and Power Engineering of HUST. Qualified post-graduate student
will receive scholarship up to 5,000 yuan per year. With
business growth in China, Alstom targets graduates to build the
company’s future talent base, and has established network
with R&D institutes and key universities across the globe.
In the coming few years, Alstom China plans to recruit 1,000
graduates in China.

Mr Zhang, on behalf of HUST, expressed thanks for
Alstom’s financial support, and hoped the awarded
students to cherish the honor, master knowledge well, and
develop comprehensive skills, so as to make due contribution to
the society and China’s modernization after their
graduation.

Yin Junjun, one of the awarded students, noted that the
Alstom scholarship is not only material support, but also
spiritual courage and recognition of his academics. In the near
future, he believed HUST graduates can join hands with Alstom
to shape a green future for China’s energy market.

Wuhan is an important business base for Alstom business
worldwide, which homed Wuhan Boiler Company Ltd., Alstom Wuhan
Engineering Company (AWEC) and Plant business. Total number of
Alstom employees in Wuhan reached about 3,000, accounting for
1/3 of the China total. In future, more talents will be
recruited in Wuhan to support Alstom business growth in China
and worldwide.
