An Alstom-led consortium with Duro Felguera engineering group was
awarded a turnkey contract by Hc Energia, a subsidiary of the
EDP-Energias de Portugal group based in Oviedo, for the construction of
a 400 MW combined cycle power station in Soto de Ribera, province of
Asturias, Spain. Additionally, a long-term operation support and
maintenance contract was awarded and both contracts represent a total
value of 340 million euros. The order is expected to be booked in the
second half of fiscal year 2008/09.
Under the terms of the contract, Alstom will supply a fully integrated turnkey power plant, comprising of one single shaft power train, integrating in-house core plant components: one GT26 gas turbine, one heat recovery steam generator, one steam turbine, and one turbogenerator.
The new power plant represents the eighth GT26 power station constructed by Alstom in Spain and the fourth with Hc Energia following Castejon 1 & 2 and Soto 4, signed in 2000, 2005 and 2006. The Alstom GT26 combined-cycle power plant fleet in Spain is totalling 4800 MW with this contract, including 3600 MW already in operation and 800 MW in construction.
Over the last decade, Alstom has contributed significantly to support power expansion and replacement of capacity needs in Spain with an installed base of more than 4800 MW, said Philippe Joubert, Alstoms Executive Vice-President and President, Power Systems Sector. This new project attests to Hc Energias satisfaction with the outstanding performance and time schedule of our combined-cycle power plants and our expertise as a Plant IntegratorTM specialist. Equally important is the high efficiency of the combined-cycle power which minimizes the impact on the environment and reduces CO2 emissions and therefore allows Hc Energia to comply with the strictest environmental standards. Philippe Joubert added.
To date, Alstom has sold 118 GT24/GT26 gas turbines and the fleet has accumulated over 2.7 million firing hours. With operations in 70 countries, Alstom brings international expertise and extensive knowledge of local markets as a fully integrated provider of clean, efficient and technologically advanced power generation solutions in all key energy markets.
