Deutsche Bahn awarded several frame contracts over up to 180 DMUs to Alstom

The DB AG awarded several frame contracts amongst others to Alstom over up to 180 one, two and tree unit DMUs. The frame contract has a total amount of up to 425 Mio. Euros. Development and Production will take place at the Alstom site Salzgitter. The trains can be ordered until 2011 for several different regional rail networks in Germany. The Deutsche Bahn promotes herewith the modernization of their car park. Due to this frame contract, Deutsche Bahn will use Coradia LINT trains also in the future.

With this frame contract DB will continue to use Coradia Lints. The former frame contract is utilized. So there serve so far 143 Coradia Lints in different regions in Germany such as Schleswig Holstein, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia and Bavaria.

Since the delivery of the furs vehicles in 2000, Coradia LINT has become one of the most favored regional train family. In total, Alstom sold 425 Coradia LINT trains in Germany, the Netherlands and Denmark to private and governmental customers. The trains have by now proved their value with an operational performance of over 300 Mio. Kilometers.

The Coradia LINT drive up to 120 kilometers per hour and offer depending on the model 70 to 200 seats. Great importance was attached to the comfortable and barrier-free design of the train. A wheel-chair-ramp, additional controls such as separate push buttons, destination displays and tactile pictograms inside the car ease disabled passengers their journey. The cars have a handicapped accessible lavatory, placed in one of the generous multipurpose areas. The train will also be equipped with comfortable seats of the latest generation.

The DMUs have modern systems for heating, ventilation and air conditioning, as well as a modern information system. A strong engine of the EU-guideline Level 3a provides a environment friendly operation.
