In an effort to alleviate growing congestion in Melbourne,
Yarra Tram (a subsidiary of Transdev*) signed an agreement with
Mulhouse’s district transport authority, SITRAM, for the
lease of 5 tramsets over a 4-year period. The four remaining
tramsets are scheduled to arrive over the next few months.

With 450 tramsets in operation, Melbourne has one of the most
extensive tram networks in the world. The State of Victoria
plans eventually to purchase new tramsets which will replace
the oldest trams in the fleet. In Melbourne, thirty-six
Citadis™ tramsets have been serving commuters since 2000.
