Réseau Ferré de France (RFF) has just
confirmed on 28 October that it has placed two orders totalling
37.3 million with Alstom Transport for the Rhine-Rhone
high-speed line project.

The first order, awarded by RFF to a
consortium which comprises Alstom Transport, Inexia and Legrand
SA.and led by Alstom Transport, covers preliminary studies,
signalling work and the supply of signalling equipment for the
Eastern branch of the Rhine-Rhone high-speed line. The
140-kilometre line will provide a link between Dijon and Mulhouse
at a revenue speed of 320 km/h. The contract includes preliminary
studies and work on cables and control centres, and the supply,
installation and testing of in-line equipment, particularly ERTMS
beacons (European Rail Traffic Management System).

The second order relates to the supply of a
new generation computerised interlocking control unit (PAI-NG)
for the Dijon-Perrigny station. Alstom will undertake preliminary
studies and installation and parameterisation work, and will
supply computerised interlocking units from the SMARTLOCK 400
range, as well as carrying out all the necessary technical
trials.

These two contracts, which confirm Alstom
Transport's strong position in the French railway network, will
mainly involve its facilities at Saint-Ouen and Villeurbanne
(France). Alstoms success in winning contracts for all
Frances high-speed line projects over nearly 30 years is a
testament to its expertise in the field of signalling. Alstom
Transport has also supplied computerised control units for major
stations such as Melun, Metz and Lyon, and the stations adjoining
Eastern Europe's high-speed line. In 2006, Alstom Transport
supplied Strasbourg with the largest computerised control unit in
Europe.
