The traction drive and electronic equipment will be produced
at Alstom's Tarbes sites for the electric blocks and traction
handles, Ornans for the traction motors and alternators,
Villeurbanne for the electronic command and control system, and
Saint-Ouen for the speed control system. These mono-cab
locomotives will be assembled at the site of Alstom's partner,
Vossloh España, in Valencia. Deliveries are scheduled to
take place between May 2010 and July 2010, following on from
the first 160 locomotives.

The 460,000 diesel locomotives, able to reach speeds of up to
100 km per hour, are distinguished by their range of
applications: shunting, transport coverage and line. A part of
Alstom's environmental protection strategy, they are outfitted
with insulation systems for the cover caps and cab as well as a
muffler to reduce noise generated by the train. Their diesel
engine and electric traction drive also help to reduce energy
consumption and emissions of exhaust fumes. In addition, driver
comfort is improved thanks to a suspended and air-conditioned
cab.

Representing some 4.3 billion annually, the locomotive
market is one of the most segmented in the railway sector and
includes locomotives with electric or diesel-electric engines
dedicated to merchandise (freight) transport or passenger
transport, and shunting locomotives. A long-time player in the
market, in which it has an 8% share, Alstom Transport has the
expertise and industrial clout required to offer operators a
range of products and services perfectly adapted to their
needs. One of Alstom's most recent contracts covered 31
electric locomotives for private operator Veolia Cargo. Alstom
also began delivering the first units of the 180 electric
Primas ordered by China's Ministry of Railways. The very first
customer for the new generation of Primas was Morocco's Office
National des Chemins de Fer (national railway office), which
ordered 20 Prima electric locomotives from Alstom in November
2007. In the past ten years, Alstom has manufactured over 1,400
locomotives at its sites in Belfort, France.
