The contract includes preliminary studies and work on cables
and control centres, and the supply, installation and testing
of in-line equipment, particularly ERTMSº beacons . RFF
has awarded the entire contract to a single consortium without
differentiating between the various services. Alstom
Transport's share is 33 million out of a total of
53 million.

The second order relates to the supply of a new generation
computerized interlocking control unit (PAI-NG) for the
Dijon-Perrigny station. This order, which totals 4.3
million, is the first to be implemented under the framework
contract signed in 2006 by RFF and Alstom Transport in respect
of the deployment of PAI-NG technology in the French network.
Alstom will undertake preliminary studies and installation and
parameterization work, and will supply computerized
interlocking units from the SMARTLOCK 400 range, as well as
carrying out all the necessary technical trials.

These two contracts, which confirm Alstom Transport's strong
position in the French railway network, will mainly involve its
facilities at Saint-Ouen and Villeurbanne (France).

Alstoms success in winning contracts for all
Frances high-speed line projects over nearly 30 years is
a testament to its expertise in the field of signalling. Alstom
Transport has also supplied computerized control units for
major stations such as Melun, Metz and Lyon, and the stations
adjoining Eastern Europe's high-speed line. In 2006, Alstom
Transport supplied Strasbourg with the largest computerized
control unit in Europe.

About new generation computerized interlocking control
units (PAI-NG)

The SMARTLOCK 400 range uses the latest computer technologies
for increased power and integrates a safety computer with three
processors, which is capable of managing very large stations.

Bringing this PAI-NG into service will help:

-  to increase operating flexibility by making it easier
to monitor traffic and by improving the programming and
automation of some commands by the control unit:

- to deal efficiently with sub-optimal operating situations,
for example when trains are travelling through areas where work
is being carried out.

This new product from Alstom Transport meets RFF's demands in
terms of performance, safety and compatibility with the ERTMS
system.

With sustainable transport in mind, Alstom Transport
develops and offers the most complete range of systems,
equipment and services on the rail market. Alstom Transport is
capable of managing an entire transport system, from rolling
stock to signalling and infrastructure, as well as offering
turnkey solutions. In 2007-2008, Alstom Transports
orders increased by 39% over the previous financial year and
its turnover rose by 4%.
