Alstom has won an order worth over 400 million with
Dutch utility company Electrabel Nederland to build a 870 MW turnkey
combined cycle power plant in Lelystad, located in the centre of the
Netherlands. Flevocentrale will be the first GT26-based combined-cycle
power plant built by Alstom in the country.

Alstom will design and build a fully
integrated plant and provide the main power plant components including
two GT26 gas turbines and the associated equipment such as steam
turbines, turbogenerators and heat recovery steam generators.
Owing
to Alstoms state-of-the-art advanced cycle gas turbine technology, the
plant can maintain a high level of operational flexibility and
efficiency.

Alstom has been a key player in the Dutch power
generation market for a long time, with 60% of the electricity generated
in The Netherlands being produced by Alstom equipment.

Maus van Loon, Chief Executive Officer, Electrabel
Nederland, said: Electrabel in The Netherlands is committed to a more
sustainable energy supply, through effectively creating a balance
between the preconditions: 'clean, affordable and reliable'. Building
this new gas-powered power plant near Lelystad, and replacing a less
energy efficient one, is part of that effort. And we are proud to
co-operate with Alstom as a leading energy technology supplier in the
world.

Worldwide, 81 Alstom GT24/GT26 gas turbines are in
commercial operation and the fleet has already accumulated over 2.5
million firing hours.

Philippe Joubert, Alstoms Executive Vice-President
and President, Power Systems Sector, said: The signature of this new
contract is proof of Electrabels confidence in Alstoms products and
plant integrator capabilities. In addition, the existing service
organisation of Alstom in the Netherlands will provide all the technical
support and required know-how to keep the plant in operation in the
most efficient way, and simultaneously create jobs in several local
companies.
