Alstom Transport has been asked by the association of the
historic Stockholm tram line, Djurgårdslinjen, to lend it
the “guest tram” of the year.

The Madrid Citadis has been chosen in particular for its
small size, which will enable tests to be performed on the
Lidingöbanan line that serves the suburb of Lidingö,
near Stockholm.

The tram was first put into service in August for a week in the
Djurgården park. Since Friday, 7 September and for a
duration of one month, it is being tested on the
Lidingöbanan line. It will then be displayed between 9 and
11 October in the south of Sweden, at the entrance to the
“Nordic Rail” exhibition.

This test forms part of a plan to reintroduce the tram to
Stockholm city centre, which has been decided. Under currently
consideration is also to link the future city network with
suburban tramlines.
