Claude Burckbuchler appointed Alstom Country President and
Power Systems President China

Alstom today announced the appointment of Claude
Burckbuchler as Alstom Country President and Power Systems
President China as of 15 October 2007. Based in Beijing, Claude
will replace current Country President Alain Berger, who will
be relocated to Brussels, Belgium as Vice President of EU
Relation Department.

Claude Burckbuchler,58, has held numerous positions within
Alstom, including Managing Director of the Hydro Power business
and Country President China (1996-1998). More recently he was
President of the Power Conversion business and lately, he has
served as an advisor on strategic acquisitions for the Power
Systems Sector.

China is a strategic market for Alstom and the Company has
just concluded the acquisition of a 51% majority shareholding
of Wuhan Boiler Company Ltd. Under Claudes leadership,
Alstom will continue to play a major role in the expansion of
the countrys power generation and transport capacities,
as it has done in the past by investing in local companies in
both the power and transport sectors.
