The Bordeaux tramway continues to grow

A new 2.6 kilometre section of track, including 400 metres
equipped with an APS* ground power supply system so avoiding
the need for overhead lines, was put into service in Bordeaux
on Monday, 23 July.The new section links the city centre with
the docks district, one of the citys development areas.



With this extension between the stops of
Quinconces and "Bassins à flot, line
B now extends over 12.8 km between the centre of Pessac and
Bordeaux Bacalan. The line will serve five new stops: "CAPC
Musée d'Art Contemporain", "Chartrons", "Cours du
Médoc", "Les Hangars" and "Bassins à flot" (new
terminal).



By the end of 2008, the Bordeaux tramway network will have
three lines measuring 43 kilometres in total, 74 trainsets and
84 stops.



* This innovative technology, in place for the past four years,
has made it possible to preserve the architectural integrity of
the historic centre of Bordeaux and operates with 99.8%
availability, in line with the expectations of the Urban
Community of Bordeaux.
