The Chinese authorities, at municipal, provincial and
central level, have expressed their support to Alstom for
acquiring a majority equity stake in Wuhan Boilers Company,
Chinas fourth largest boilermaker for coal-based power
stations.. Their final approval was received on 9 July 2007. A
general offer has been launched on 11 July 2007 and will last
for 30 calendar days.

Based upon the agreement signed in April 2006, Alstom will
acquire 51% of the company , which is quoted on the Shenzen
stock exchange, for 32.8 million. Chinese security
regulations demand that Alstom must make a general offer so
that shareholders can tender their shares during the general
offer period.

The Wuhan Boiler Company has worked with Alstom as an
industrial partner for more than 10 years and has sales of
around 200 million. Through this strategic partnership,
Alstom will be able to leverage the power plant boiler market
in China, one of the fastest growing in the world and develop
exports from the country. Alstom will provide the Wuhan Boiler
Company with cutting-edge technologies - especially for
clean coal -, international management skills and
access to external markets. As regards manufacturing, this
partnership will see the relocation of production to a new
factory on the outskirts of Wuhan which will be equipped with
the most modern equipment. This unit will be able to produce
600 MW boilers, while those currently manufactured have a 300
MW power rating. This investment will complete Alstoms
offer for this market in China, where the group already
produces 600 MW steam turbines at a plant in Beijing.
