Alstom wins first GT26-based combined cycle power plant in India

Alstom has won a contract worth approximately Rs 1000 crores with Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Ltd (GSECL) for the construction of the first Alstom GT26-based combined cycle power plant in India. This 370 MW plant will be an extension of the existing combined cycle power plant located at Utran, Surat District, State of Gujarat, India.

Under the contract, Alstom will provide all engineering, procurement and construction services to deliver a fully integrated combined cycle power plant, with heat recovery steam generator, gas turbine and generator, steam turbine and generator, and DCS (Distributed Control System). Alstoms local entity , ALSTOM Projects India Limited will be responsible for plant engineering , heat recovery steam generator and other equipment supplies along with the entire site construction of the plant amounting to Rs.500 crores

The power plant will be built around Alstoms world-leading GT26 gas turbine technology, which, in combined cycle, is the most efficient gas turbine technology on the market with the highest overall plant efficiency in its class.

The plant will be the fourth combined cycle power plant constructed by Alstom in the state of Gujarat, after Kawas, Gandhar, and Hazira*. It will add up to 10% to the generating capacity of GSECL.
