On its stand, Alstom Transport will display various
information around V150. A picture exhibition will present the
workers activity and the trains evolution until the
record day. Three videos will be broadcasted, relating the 365
days before the speed world record, Alstoms expertise
& technological advance and last but not least the strong
moments of D day. A POS trainset will be presented
to the public as well as the M2 and R8 cars from the V150
trainset.

In 2003, SNCF commissioned Alstom to manufacture 38 new power
cars for the TGV Est. They will be coupled to
Réseau-model TGV coaches made by Alstom in the
1990s and renovated by SNCF following a design created by
Christian Lacroix. They will form 19 trainsets.

The TGV Est is faster it will operate at 320km/h
and also 5 to 7% more powerful, thanks to a power/weight ratio
that has been optimized, with the removal of 200 kg. Its
latest-generation, lighter motorization makes the new power car
easier and less expensive to maintain.

The TGV Est benefits from extremely high safety levels, thanks in
particular to the articulated trainset principle,
with the bogies located between the coaches. This solution brings
with it two advantages. For SNCF, maintenance costs are reduced
even further given that, with an equal number of cars, a TGV has
fewer bogies than a traditional train with coaches equipped with
two bogies. For passengers, greater comfort is on offer as none
of the bogies are situated under the seats. No direct
disturbance, by vibration or by noise, coming from the wheels
through contact with the track.
