With its high-tech operations designed to promote
sustainable development, Alstom has positioned itself at the
cutting edge of innovation in its two core business activities:
equipment and services for both power generation and rail
transport. By participating in the European Research and
Innovation Exhibition, Alstoms target is to
highlight  its high-tech performance and innovation
capabilities in both power generation and rail transport to a
large audience.

Alstom already offers clean power solutions
that pave the way worldwide, reflected in measures to improve
the efficiency of new and existing coal-fired power plants from
the 30% average value for conventional plants to 45%. Other
innovations include emission-control systems, in which Alstom
is a global leader. However, the Group intends to go much
further, aiming to implement CO2 capture systems on an
industrial scale by 2015.

In rail transport, which already has clear environmental
benefits, Alstom is working to reduce the energy consumption of
its products and improve their recyclability. The next
generation of very high speed trains now under development will
offer enhanced performance enabling a commercial speed
of 360 kph while cutting power consumption, compared
with trains currently in operation.

The Alstom stand (120 sq.m) displays these innovations
through interactive and educational tools. It focuses on
clean power (CO2 capture, environment control
systems), very high speed trains and interior design. Visitors
will see a gas turbine mock-up, a 1/10 scale model of the V 150
world rail speed record train, an engine cutaway of the next
AGV* very high speed train, along with films and 3D animation
clips.

*AGV = Automotrice Grande Vitesse
