Irish Minister for Transport Mr. Martin Cullen T.D. was at
the LUAS Red Cow Depot on Tuesday April 17th to witness the
signing of the contract between RPA and Alstom. During his
visit, the Minister saw at first-hand the first of the
lengthened Red Line trams being prepared for service. This
project will see the extension of all 26 Red Line trams from
30m to 40m and will result in increasing the capacity of
individual Red Line trams by 40%. The first of the new 10-metre
modules have arrived in Ireland from Barcelona, and are being
fitted to the trams at the Red Cow Depot. The first of the
modified trams will go into service in May.

Currently more than 930 Citadis trams have been ordered by 24
cities worldwide. They have transported more than 1 billion
passengers, demonstrating their reliability over more than 80
million kilometres in operation, confirming the success of this
model recognised for its modularity and design.
