Manufactured at La Rochelle, Alstoms Centre of
Excellence for tramways, the model measuring almost 14
metres long and weighing around 8 tonnes was transported
by a special convoy. It arrived in Angers on 10 April and was
presented to the press the following day. Inhabitants of the city
will be able to explore it throughout the Foire Expo fair, to be
held between 21 and 29 April. The model has been designed with a nose boasting fluid,
dynamic lines, evoking the bow of a boat, and a luminous, pure
white livery white that diffracts in rainbow ribbons. The
interior is also very colourful. It comprises the driving cab and
the first two of the five modules devoted to passengers, making
up the vehicle. The firm portion of the deal agreed with the Angers Loire
Metropolitan Community includes the design and production of the
model. The conditional section, which should be taken up shortly,
involves the supply of 17 vehicles and associated services
(documentation, training, specific tooling). It also includes the
provision of the APS system (ground level power supply). Delivery
of the first trainset is planned for the end of 2008 and entry
into commercial service for mid-2010.
