1000 in-sleeper switch machines for Italy

Designed and built in Bologna (Italy), Alstom MET offers a
great stability on turnouts and track equipment, using a robust
construction. Alstom MET fits in the middle of the track,
contrary to traditional switch machines, which are placed on the
side of the track. It is ideal for applications with very reduced
available space (like tunnels and viaducts) and with the heaviest
ambient conditions (-40°C). After passing all certification tests, Alstom MET is today
in operation in more than five countries around the world. With
contracts for 3000 units over next for years under its belt, this
in-sleeper machine is gaining fast recognition. Alstom was recently chosen as supplier for a frame contract
with Jernbaneverket, the Norwegian Railway Infrastructure
Administration, and with Banverket, the infrastructures division
of the Sweden railways operator, for the supply of MET until
2011. The potential market in Sweden and Norway for next 5 years
is up of 1500 pieces for a total value of 23 millions
euros.
