Orders worth Rs 750 crores awarded by NHPC for projects at URI Stage-II and CHAMERA Stage-III & Gati Infrastructure for project at CHUZACHEN

New Delhi, February 13, 2007 Alstom, today announced that in the span of four weeks, the company has won three new orders worth Rs 750 crores for hydro projects at URI Stage-II, CHAMERA Stage-III and CHUZACHEN. The orders for 4 x 60 MW URI Stage-II and 3 x 77 MW CHAMERA Stage-III have been awarded to Alstom by National Hydroelectric Power Corporation, Indias leading hydroelectric utility, and the order for 2 x 55 MW CHUZACHEN has been awarded by Gati Infrastructure, a unit of Gati Group.

These orders consolidate Alstoms leadership position in Indias Hydro sector. The scope of work includes turnkey execution of Electro-Mechanical lot comprising of hydroturbines, generators and auxiliaries. Alstom Projects India Limited will execute works worth about Rs.600 crores at the hydro unit based in Vadodara .

Speaking on the announcement Mr Frederic Lalanne, Vice Chairman & Managing Director, Alstom Projects India Limited (APIL) said, "While India moves ahead on its growth path, as one of the most dynamic economies of the world, we are committed to provide the best in clean power generation technologies and equipment to our Indian partners and customers . The hydro facility at Vadodara is one of the three large hydro equipment manufacturing hubs in the group along with China and Brazil. This factory is fully geared to meet the needs of domestic and international projects."
