This is the second phase of an umbrella order for 161 MF2000
metro trainsets signed between the RATP and the consortium in
July 2001. The first block of 45 metro trainsets, for line 2 of
the Paris metro, was optioned in January 2006. It will be
delivered between 2008 and 2010. These 49 trainsets are
intended for line 5. Delivery will be staggered between 2010
and 2012.
Since January 2007, the pre-production trainset has been in
commercial service on line 2. Its operation has allowed the
RATP to verify dynamic performance and the reliability of the
equipment.
The construction of the MF2000 is part of a policy to renew
the RATPs rolling stock. The MF2000 will progressively
replace MF67 equipment, which went into service between 1967
and 1978 (40% of the current fleet of the RATP), and will
operate on lines 2 (Porte Dauphine-Nation), 5 (Place
dItalie-Bobigny) and 9 (Pont de Sèvres-Mairie de
Montreuil) of the Parisian network.
The MF2000 consumes 30% less energy than a traditional metro
through performance improvements in the traction system and
energy-regenerative electric brakes. Its dynamic performance
reduces travel time and increases frequency of operation. An
on-board video protection device allows the driver to
immediately detect the slightest problem using cameras located
in the passenger cars so that an emergency team can intervene
if necessary. The on-board security computer system, developed
by AREVA TA, meets the highest standards in the field (SIL
4).
Project management: distribution of tasks
- Alstom Transport will provide the overall
project management for producing the trains, through its
Centre of Excellence for metros in Valenciennes-Petite
Forêt. It will supply the different components and
sub-assemblies for energy production, traction-braking
systems and comfort IT systems, manufactured in its plants in
Ornans, Tarbes and Villeurbanne respectively. It will
integrate these components into the train at its Valenciennes
site, along with components that its partners and their
suppliers deliver. Finally it will equip the cars, assemble
the train and conduct testing before delivery to the
RATP. - BOMBARDIER TRANSPORTATION FRANCE, located in
Crespin in the Valenciennois region, will supply driver cabs,
bogies and painted car bodies. - AREVA TA will supply the IT security system,
the operating parameter recorders and the truck/train data
transmission systems and will take part in acoustic and
vibration studies.
