Alstom Transport has been asked by the Region Council of
Utrecht to arrange for a Mulhouse Citadis tram to give a demo
in the city and the region of Utrecht, Netherlands.
The Mulhouse Citadis did its demo rides from 7 until 13
September, with special VIP-rides, press rides and general
public trips. During the car free Sunday on September 9 many
inhabitants came to have a look at the yellow tram on
display.
There has also been massive regional media coverage of this
successful event. The council has to renew its existing 30 year
old tram fleet and is considering to replace current bus lanes
by tram tracks. Council members had already seen the Citadis in
action in Mulhouse and loved the luxury and design of the tram
and also the way in which the tram infrastructure had been
integrated in the urban landscape of Mulhouse.
The Utrecht Council will decide later this year on its
future public transport plan.
