Constructed in aluminium, the vehicles have been designed so
as to reduce noise levels inside the train. They will be air
conditioned and equipped with video screens. Access and getting
around will be made easier for disabled people, thanks to
reserved seats and adapted toilets.

The vehicles will be manufactured in Alstoms factory
at Santa Perpetua de Mogoda located in Barcelona. The site will
be responsible for project management, engineering,
construction of bodyshells, assembly, finishing, testing and
delivery. The sites at Charleroi (Belgium), Ornans,
Reichshoffen, Villeurbanne (France) and Montreal (Canada) will
also be involved in manufacturing the trains.

Previously, in April 2004 and February 2006, Alstom was awarded
two contracts for the furniture of 80 Civia trains, currently
being constructed at the Barcelona factory. With this new
contract, Alstom will continue to contribute to RENFEs
ongoing programme to modernize its fleet of commuter
trains.
