Alstom Transport has handled the maintenance of this fleet
since 1996, in Londons Stratford Market depot. Under the
terms of the renewed contract, Alstom will continue to maintain
the fleet for the next 10 years, until 2017. The Jubilee Line
fleet currently consists of 63 trainsets manufactured by
Alstom. The line has seen traffic frequency increase
significantly in recent years, due to the development of the
East London districts (in particular the business district of
Canary Wharf). Traffic is expected to continue to grow as the
line will serve the facilities for the 2012 Olympic Games.

Elsewhere in London, Alstom has managed the maintenance of
the Northern Line fleet the busiest line on
Londons underground system - since 1995. Alstom will
continue to maintain the 106 trainsets operating on the line
until 2017 with an option for 10 additional years.

Within Alstom Transport, maintenance is one of the
activities with the strongest potential for growth, thanks to
the opening up of competition in freight and passenger
transport. Over recent years, Alstom has won major contracts
for the maintenance of freight locomotives for BNSF (United
States), high-speed Pendolino tilting trains
operated on the West Coast Main Line (United Kingdom), the
Bucharest metro (Romania), and the maintenance of trainsets and
infrastructure on the Dublin, Barcelona and Reims tramways.
