For the Son La project, located on the Da River, in Son La
province about 340 kms north-west of Hanoi, Alstom
Hydros scope of supply includes design, engineering,
manufacturing and delivery of six 400 MW Francis turbines and
generators, and BOP (balance of plant), as well as training and
supervision of installation, testing and commissioning. The
first unit is scheduled for commissioning in 2010 and the last
in 2012.

Once completed, the Son La hydro power plant is expected to
generate about 10 billion kWh per year and will meet a
significant part of the countrys energy needs. Alstom
Hydro has already provided the equipment for five hydro power
plants in Vietnam, located from north to south of the
country.

Philippe Cochet, President of Alstom Hydro, said: The
Son La hydro power plant is of vital importance in meeting
Vietnams growing energy needs and we are honoured to be
entrusted by EVN with this important project. The award of the
contract is also confirmation of Alstom Hydros advanced
technology and of the superior efficiency of our turbines and
generators.

*Alstom Hydro is a joint venture between Alstom and Bouygues
and has over 400GW of turbines and generators installed
worldwide which represent more than 25% of the total global
hydro power installed capacity.
