First Alstom Transport contract in Norway

This contract is the first breakthrough of ALSTOM Transport
in Norway and will open the door for next major railway
opportunities.

After two successes of ALSTOM switch machine in Sweden,
ALSTOM MET can be installed on the whole Norwegian network
(passenger and freight). The market potential of ALSTOM MET in
Sweden and Norway is up to 100 million euro.

ALSTOM MET is based on a modular and standardised concept.
Benefits from this design are an easy installation, operation
and a cost effective maintenance, offering the lowest possible
life cycle cost. Contrary to traditional switch machines, which
are placed on the side of the track, ALSTOM MET fits in the
middle of the track.

The ALSTOM MET is ideal for applications with very reduced
available space (like tunnels and viaducts) and with the
heaviest ambient conditions (-40C) and offers a great stability
on turnouts and track equipment, using a robust
construction.

For a maximum safety, Alstom switch machine uses the concept
of double locking, avoiding completely the use of external
rods.

The product has passed all certification tests and is today
in operation in more than five countries around the world. With
contracts for 3000 units over next for years under its belt,
the ALSTOM MET in-sleeper machine is gaining fast recognition.
The MET is designed and built in Bologna, Italy.
