According to the evaluation by National Development and
Reform Commission (NDRC), this train achieved the local
production rate of 70% and was delivered two months ahead of
the contractual schedule.

ALSTOM Transport and SATCO will supply 28 trains in total
(168 cars) for Shanghai Line 8, a contract worth 184
millions. Although the contractual schedule planned deliveries
of 5 trains in October 2006, 19 in 2007 and the last 4 in 2008,
to meet the fast development of mass transit network in
Shanghai, ALSTOM and SATCO determined to produce 8 trains this
year and complete the remaining 20 by the end of 2007.

Shanghai Metro Line 8 is a 22.3 Km long, 21 stations totally
underground line which will offer the access to the future
Universal Studios theme park and the World Expo 2010 park in
Pudong. The Line 8 will be put into commercial service by the
end of 2007.
