New series 9000 trains presented in Barcelona

ALSTOM, designs, engineers and manufactures the Series 9000
trains, which belong to the Metropolis™ range, in its
Industrial Site of Santa Perpetua de Mogoda (Barcelona) and will
supply a total of 50 trains for this project, by 2008. The
first unit will be coming into service at the end of September
2006. These new units have all the necessary equipment in order to
drive either completely automatically or with a driver. Moreover
they will allow significant energy savings thanks to their
reduced weight and their advanced braking system. The interior
design incorporates a user-friendly layout, advanced information
and safety systems as well as modern passenger comforts.
