ALSTOM BEIZHONG POWER, THE FIRST LARGE STEAM TURBINE &
GENERATOR MANUFACTURER IN NORTH CHINA OFFICIALLY
INAUGURATED

Located in the Shijingshan District of Beijing, the ABP
joint venture, in which ALSTOM holds 60% share and BZD holds
the remaining 40%, is the largest French invested manufacturing
project in Beijing.  The investment in the manufacturing
facilities and equipment alone amount to approximately RMB 800
million yuan.  It covers a total covered area of around
35,000m2, including 25,000 m2 for large workshops and employs
nearly 500 employees so far.

Introducing ALSTOMs world leading steam turbine and
generator technology, this modern joint venture is fully
integrated into ALSTOMs worldwide manufacturing network
and has adopted the same management standards and processes,
used in other successful ALSTOM plants globally and installed
the latest, sophisticated manufacturing equipment. 

The establishment of the joint venture will play its role in
re-shaping the structure of Chinas large power
generation equipment manufacturing sector, upgrading the
competence level of the whole sector and fostering the
manufacturing sectors development of China.

ALSTOM offers globally the widest range of steam turbines
and generators with excellent reliability, performance, low
maintenance cost, easy inspections and long maintenance
intervals.  Its totally installed base of steam turbine
generators exceeds 500GW globally. This figure is close to
Chinas total installed power generation capacity at end
of 2005.

The ABP joint venture represents a key step in
extending ALSTOMs industrial business in China,
said Philippe Joubert, President of ALSTOM Power Generation
Sectors in his remarks at the opening ceremony of ABP.
We expect ABP will quickly become one of our most
important global manufacturing centers for steam turbine and
turbogenerator equipment, serving both the dynamic domestic
thermal market and the world.  ABP sets an example that
demonstrates ALSTOMs long-term commitment to
Chinas electric power industry through building a strong
industrial presence with our local partners.
