Georges Frêche, President of the Languedoc-Roussillon
region, and Marc Letourneur, Managing Director of TAM, the
Montpellier tramway operator, were able to discover this familiar
yet renewed tramway.

The tramway has been renewed not only through its new design,
in total contrast with the first delivery now operating on Line
1, but also through improvements to passenger services, notably
passenger information screens and video-surveillance cameras
which transmit real-time images to the control centre.

The trams operated on Line 2 of Montpellier’s tramway
network will nevertheless maintain the characteristics and
benefits specific to ALSTOM’s CITADIS range :
accessibility, comfort, capacity, modularity and flexibility.

ALSTOM has delivered a fully functional tram, ready for the
final tests and validations. Both ALSTOM and TAM (Transports de
l’Agglomération de Montpellier) teams will devote the
next few weeks to one last in-situ test phase on the city’s
network. The people of Montpellier will be able to use the new
CITADIS trams at the beginning of 2007.
