The event, which was attended by Philippe Mellier and SNCF
representatives, gave an exclusive preview of the new
locomotives that will be used on the Transilien network.

Overall, sixty BB 827300 locomotives designed and
manufactured at our Belfort site will be used on the Transilien
network both to replace old locomotives and to complement the
network. They will be coupled with double-deck suburban coaches
manufactured by ALSTOM nearly twenty years ago that are being
renovated by the SNCF.

These locomotives will allow the SNCF to
improve time-keeping on lines from Paris
Montparnasse and St-Lazare stations, where they will be used
from late summer 2006 onwards.

The BB 827300 units ordered by SNCF are part of
ALSTOMs PRIMA range. They are similar to the 210 Freight
locomotives (BB 427000) that are also being delivered to SNCF.
The BB 827300s have been specially adapted for passenger
transport and to ensure optimum safety on a busy operating
network. ALSTOM will deliver two locomotives per month to SNCF,
from June 2006 to December 2008.
