ALSTOM closes TIS contract in Brazil

This new system will totally replace the existing one,
benefits being full control, management and supervision of the
entire network, structured over a modern technology for train
control architecture (CBTC Communication-based Traffic
Control).

The scope of the new system includes the provision of

- two new operational control centres for traffic
management,

- new on-site systems and signalling equipment for
operation in the conception of centralized interlocking,

- a data and voice / radio telecommunications system and

- provision of 500 on-board computers for installation in
the entire fleet of 400 locomotives and 100 auxiliary
vehicles.

Implementation of the project is scheduled to begin in
February 2006, for 3 years, and should be concluded by 2010.
Management of the contract, engineering services, the Control
Centre signalling system, as well as the on-site and on-board
systems, will be conducted through our signalling site in
São Paulo, Brazil.
