The interview, which was conducted inside the MF 2000
carriages for the new Paris metro, detailed potential
changes.

As trains are designed to be used by people, when human
morphology changes, trains must follow suit. People today are
taller than a generation ago, so entrances need to be higher,
seats need to be spaced further apart, handles need to be
higher, etc.

Our passengers now expect not only heightened levels of
comfort, but they are also increasingly sensitive to the
environment in which they travel. Design, notably materials,
shapes, colours and lighting, is an ever-more important element
in the railway industry. This was highlighted by the creation
last year of Transport’s Design and Styling department.
Led by Xavier Allard, the Design & Styling team is now
involved in the conception of every new train, tram or metro
that we manufacture.
