This order, worth € 150 millions, placed with ALSTOM
Transport in 2004 covers the supply of 50 RegioCITADIS
tram-trains. Each train set, comprising three cars, provides
bidirectional operation features and a capacity of 220
passengers. All train sets are manufactured at the Salzgitter
site (Germany). The RandstadtRail tram-trains will be operated on
the new line connecting La Hague, Rotterdam and Zoetermeer city
centers. They are designed to operate both on the inter-urban
railway lines and the La Hague tram tracks. The first train has
been delivered on February 27, 2006, and the last one will be
delivered on March 9, 2007. This week train number 28 will arrive
in The Hague. The "Randstadtrail" RegioCitadis is the first badged train
in The Netherlands. This approach is part of the ALSTOM Transport
Badging policy in order to be clearly identified as train
designer and manufacturer. It adds to the already ALSTOM
Transport badged systems: the metro in Barcelona and trams in
Grenoble and Valenciennes. Revenue service is due to start in late October 2006. For more information, please
