Alstom to supply the largest clean coal power plant ever built in Poland

The new plant will be the largest power plant ever built in
the country. It is scheduled to begin commercial operation in
October 2010.

As a plant integrator, Alstom will design, build and
commission the new lignite-fired power plant, which will
achieve efficiencies of up to 42%, making it the most efficient
lignite-fired coal plant in the country and one of the most
advanced lignite-fired plants in the world.

Alstom will manufacture and supply all the main equipment,
including the advanced supercritical boiler, the steam turbine,
the turbo generator and the control system.

The low NOx boiler will be integrated with a wet flue gas
desulphurisation system so that emissions of sulphur dioxide
(SOx) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) will be reduced to meet
emission levels required by the EUs Large Combustion
Plant Directive.

The plant is designed to operate with a high efficiency
cycle.  The effect will not only be reduced fuel
consumption but a decrease of overall emissions, including
CO2.  The plant would generate 10% less CO2 on a per KWh
basis than the typical coal plant in the region.

*The pre-engineering contract for this project was signed on
December 20, 2004. Todays signature marks the successful
financing and the official launch of the project.
