Speaking on ALSTOM Power, Philippe Joubert said, We
are committed to provide the cleanest integrated power
solutions, for all energy sources, globally.  As one of
the six largest energy consumers in the world, India needs new
technologies and systems to develop and expand power generation
capacity, especially in the hydro market. We will provide the
best technologies to India, and at the same time we will
benefit from the great pool of Indian talent.

"ALSTOM has identified India as one of its key markets for
hydro-power development and believes that its hydro
technologies will be very useful, as India plans to maximise
the potential of its hydro-power generation capabilities,"
added Joubert.

ALSTOMs Vadodara hydro facility in India is one of
the worlds three hydro-power manufacturing facilities,
along with China and Brazil.

ALSTOM (APIL) has a robust order book of Rs 2,000 crore and
almost half of the backlog comes from ALSTOMs hydro
business in India.

ALSTOM has also decided to enhance its global engineering
technology business. The additional capacity in India will also
cater to ALSTOM business needs globally. In addition to six
existing Engineering Centres, the soon-to-be-launched Global
Engineering Centre at Salt Lake, Kolkata will offer Design
& Engineering services for ALSTOM's Air Pollution Control
Systems business on a global scale.

In India, ALSTOM puts great emphasis on ensuring that clean
power is coupled with the best technologies. ALSTOM is the
pioneer in Air Pollution Control Technology in India. It has
successfully worked with companies such as NHPC, NTPC, NALCO,
BALCO, HINDALCO, TATA Steel, Birlas, MALCO and Grasim, to
reduce harmful emissions into the environment.

Sunand Sharma, Country President, ALSTOM India added,
Our new Global Engineering Centre at Kolkata and
expansion of the hydro facility reinforces ALSTOMs
continued commitment to India.
