ALSTOM has won a 11 million euro contract to design and supply a Dry
Flue Gas Desulfurization (DFGD) system to control air emissions at a
coke production facility in Vitoria, Brazil.

The DFGD system will be part of a power generation plant supplied by Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) to a steel plant.  Sun Coke, a Sunoco Corporation subsidiary, will supply the coke production technology. The steel plant is owned and operated by Companhia Siderúrgica de Tubarão.

Under the contract with KHI, ALSTOM will design, supply and commission a DFGD system to treat the off gases from the coke oven.
The ALSTOM-designed DFGD system comprises rotary atomizer, spray dryer absorbers and high-ratio pulse jet fabric filters.

It will be installed for control of gaseous and particulate air pollutants, including SO 2 and SO 3. The DFGD system is required to meet environmental standards for air quality in the region. ALSTOM units in both North America and Latin America will contribute to fulfilling the contract.

This award exemplifies how ALSTOM can successfully leverage its local presence and global reach to support clients with the development of new projects covering multiple regions around the world, said Einar Saunes, Senior Vice President of ALSTOM Environmental Control Systems.  ALSTOM is committed to being a global leader in providing reliable and innovative clean air solutions at a competitive cost/performance ratio.
