ALSTOM builds its largest global hydro power base in
China

With the heavy investment and the full technologies
transferred from ALSTOM, TAH has been transformed into the
world s first class hydro power equipment manufacture
enterprise that is capable of manufacturing & supplying the
largest hydro turbine (up to 900 MW) in the world. The factory
covers an area of 60,000 sqm, an annual order volume of more
than 170 million Euros.

The development of TAH in the past 10 years reflects the
tremendous growth of ALSTOM s hydro power business in China. As
the largest power generation equipment and technology provider
to the Three Gorges project, and the winner of the 16 sets of
300MW units Pumped Storage Project, ALSTOM is by far the
unparallel leader in China s hydro power market.

Meanwhile, through the transfer of our most advanced
technologies to local Chinese players including Harbin and
Dongfang, ALSTOM has contributed to enhancing the overall
capabilities & competence of Chinese hydro power equipment
manufacturing industry as a whole.

Furthermore, our success in hydro power business sets an
excellent example and a business model allowing us to apply to
other businesses these winning strategies:

For example, in Steam Turbine business, we established a
60%-40% joint venture ALSTOM BEIZHONG Power (Beijing) Co.,
Ltd., with Beijing Heavy Electric Machinery Work in 2004.
Introducing ALSTOM s world leading technologies, the venture
manufactures 600MW and above sub-critical, super critical and
ultra super critical steam turbines and generators. With a
total investment of US$86 million, this joint venture will be
built into one of our most important global manufacture site
for steam turbine equipment.

In addition to manufacturing technologies, we have also
transferred our engineering know-how to facilitate our
businesses rapid growth in China. In this year, we established
ALSTOM Wuhan Engineering & Technology Co., Ltd, which
provides technological & commercial consulting &
services in power generation equipment manufacture, power
environment protection and related fields.
