Second contract to build a turnkey combined-cycle power plant in India for 180 million Euro

ALSTOM has been awarded an order in India to build a 469 MW
turnkey combined-cycle power plant for Gautami Power Ltd, a
special purpose company lead by GVK Industries Ltd. The order
is valued at about 180 million euro.

This is the second successive order awarded to ALSTOM by GVK
Industries this year, following the award of the 228 MW
Jegurupadu, Phase II combined-cycle power plant in January
2004, valued at 110 million euro.

This new power plant (1 x KA13E2-2) will be located in
Peddapuram, in the State of Andhra Pradesh, India.

ALSTOM’s scope of supply includes two GT13E2 gas
turbines, two heat recovery steam generators, a steam turbine
generator, water-steam cycle equipment and electro-mechanical
auxiliaries, including the HV-Switchyard. In addition, ALSTOM
will provide the engineering, project management, civil work,
erection, commissioning and testing of the power plant, along
with spare parts. All the major components for this project are
ALSTOM in-house proven products.

The construction of the Gautami 469 MW power plant began in
the second quarter of 2004 and is scheduled to enter commercial
operation in June 2006.

This project will provide overall support to the needed
security of power supply in the State of Andhra Pradesh, which
in the long term will assist the development for this State and
also for the entire country.

These orders have been achieved due to the combination of
ALSTOM’s Engineering, Procurement and Construction
capabilities in fossil fuel-based power plants and proven
product technologies, and the leading position of developers in
India for the promotion of power projects. The successful
execution of the Jegurupadu combined-cycle power plant, Phase
I, is a clear example of this collaboration.
