ALSTOM secures contract to supply a steam turbine generator set in Vemagiri, India

ALSTOM has been awarded an order by Larsen & Toubro Ltd. Mumbai, India to supply a steam turbine generator for a Combined-Cycle Power Plant ordered by Vemagiri Power Generation Ltd in Vemagiri, India.
The plant will be located near the village of Vemagiri in the State of Andra Pradesh in Eastern India.
The planning, procurement and construction of the plant started in December 2003 and commercial operation is scheduled in the beginning of 2006.
ALSTOM is supporting the project schedule with a short delivery time for the Steam Turbine Generator in less than 13 months. This short delivery time, the reliability of the product and the availability of the local service organisation were the key winning points for ALSTOM.
The supply of a steam turbine for the Vemagiri Plant will contribute to the much-needed support in reinforcing the power supply in the State of Andhra Pradesh.
