ALSTOM highlights its new contracts for PENDOLINO

For the Expo Ferroviaria exhibition to be held in Turin, 25-27
May, ALSTOM will highlight contracts for PENDOLINO high-speed
tilting trains awarded recently by Trenitalia and Cisalpino.
ALSTOM will also organize a press conference on Wednesday 26
morning and be part of a seminar organized by CIFI (Italian
Engineer Association) on Wednesday 26 afternoon to present these
high-speed tilting trains and their innovations.


The seven-car trains will have a top speed of 250 kph and a
capacity of 430 passengers. They will be built at ALSTOM’s
site in Savigliano, Italy, with components supplied by other
European ALSTOM sites. Delivery for the first new trains will
begin in November 2006, and the last train will be delivered in
September 2007.


In addition, ALSTOM will also highlight its CORADIA train
for Italian regions. This train has also been chosen by
Trenitalia for its rail network.


In Italy, urban transport is a key issue as expanding
cities face increasing traffic and air pollution. ALSTOM will
participate at the event with a presentation of its own
urban-transport solutions for Italy, such as METROPOLIS metro
trains and CITYWAY tramways.


ALSTOM has a well-established industrial presence in Italy
and is able to respond quickly to cities’ specific needs
for urban, suburban and intercity transport with complete
rail-transport solutions or separate products, including rolling
stock, traffic-management systems.


In Italy, ALSTOM Transport employs 3,000 people with units
in Savigliano, Colleferro, Sesto San-Giovanni, Guidonia and
Bologna, which is ALSTOM’s worldwide centre of excellence
for the SMARTLOCK interlocking product family. ALSTOM Transport
also has a research company in Bari and a telecommunications unit
in Verona.
