ALSTOM has been awarded an order valued at about 123
million to build a 300 MW turnkey power plant for Sonelgaz
S.p.A. The power plant will be located in FKirina, some
520 Km east of Algiers.

Sonelgaz SpA is a public company for the production,
transmission and distribution of electrical energy, in addition
to the transport and distribution of natural gas over the
national Algerian territory.

ALSTOMs scope of supply includes two of the
well-proven GT13E2 gas turbines as well as the generators, the
high voltage substation and the electro-mechanical auxiliaries.
In addition ALSTOM will provide the civil work, erection,
commissioning and testing of the power plant. All the major
components for this project are ALSTOM in-house proven
products.

The construction of the FKirina 300 MW power plant
will start in September 2003 and is scheduled to enter
operation in October 2004. This fast track project will help to
alleviate the shortage of power in Algeria.

In addition, the project will create jobs in the region
during the construction and operation of the power plant, which
has an estimated lifetime of 20 years.
