Ferrovia Adriatico Sangritana (FAS), a transport operator in
the Abruzzo region of Italy, has ordered two new trainsets from
ALSTOM's CORADIA family of regional trains.

The contract, worth approximately €7.7 million, was
signed June 17. It includes options to buy up to eight additional
trainsets.

FAS has ordered the trains to reinforce its fleet and offer
passengers high-quality, fast, comfortable and safe rail
travel.

Like the regional trains ALSTOM is building for Trenitalia,
these trains for FAS are derived from ALSTOM's CORADIA LINT.
Trenitalia, the national passenger railway, has signed a contract
with ALSTOM that foresees the acquisition of 200 trains within
the framework of a multiyear investment program. Trenitalia has
named its trains “Minuetto.”

The electric, three-car multiple-unit trainsets, with a length
of 51.9 meters, can carry up to 345 passengers.

With a top speed of 160 kph, the trains are designed to offer
high levels of safety and comfort for passengers. The partial low
floors allow easy access, especially for those with impaired
mobility or transporting baby carriages.

The air-conditioned coaches are equipped with
video-surveillance and passenger-information systems, and the
seats with power-supply sockets for passengers' portable
computers, entertainment devices, mobile phones or other personal
appliances. Multifunctional areas are provided for the storage of
bicycles, skis and luggage.

ALSTOM's Italian units in Savigliano, Sesto San Giovanni and
Colleferro will carry out the contracts. Delivery is scheduled
for an entry into service by the end of 2005.

With more than 35 product lines and a presence in more than
60 countries, ALSTOM's Transport sector offers cutting-edge
products and services for new rolling stock, signaling and
electrical and mecanical infrastructure as well as maintenance
and rehabilitation services to four distinct types of
customers: urban transit authorities and operators; intercity
passenger rail operators and rolling stock owners; rail freight
operators; and intercity railway infrastructure owners.
ALSTOM's Transport sector, with sales of €5.1 billion in
financial year 2002-2003, is among the world's leading
suppliers to the railway industry.
