“Le Train Capitale,” an exhibition along the Champs-Elysées in Paris that celebrates rail transport, opened on May 17 and runs to June 15, 2003. The event is coproduced by the SNCF and WM Evenements. ALSTOM, Bombardier and Siemens are official partners.

Discovering the world of rail travel
During the month-long exposition, visitors to the French capital and Parisians will experience the “plus belle avenue du monde” as an open-air exposition. Visitors will discover the world of rail travel through a variety of exhibits and activities.

Historic, contemporary and future trains, many of which are ALSTOM-built, will be on show along the avenue. On a day to be announced, an actual train will run up and down the Champs-Elysées.

In addition to the trains themselves, there will be guided visits, discussion forums and other attractions.

ALSTOM will present its industrial and technical expertise in a dedicated pavilion on the Champs-Elysées open to the public throughout the entire month.

Said Philippe Mellier, president of ALSTOM Transport: “We’re very happy to be associated withLe Train Capitale. ALSTOM, partner to the SNCF in its most prestigious projects, will demonstrate a wide range of its expertise at the event.

“For ALSTOM,Le Train Capitaleis an opportunity to show that rail transport has played, and will continue to play, a determining role in national, regional and urban development. It is at the heart of sustainable development, and the men and women of ALSTOM are proud to contribute to it.”
