ALSTOM has been awarded a contract in excess of 35
million by Teollisuuden Voima Oy (TVO) to upgrade the Olkiluoto
nuclear power station (2 units of 870 MW each) located next to
the city of Rauma.

This contract will consist of a complete retrofit of the two
existing high pressure (HP) steam turbines, including not only
two new (HP) casings but also retrofit of the two HP rotors
with new blading, four moisture-separators-reheaters (MSR) and
associated thermal equipment. The first delivery will take
place in 2005 and the second delivery in 2006. The upgrade will
allow the power station to increase not only its total power
output but also its overall thermal efficiency. The equipment
will be manufactured in ALSTOM factories and the project will
be managed by ALSTOM in Sweden. The ALSTOM scope of delivery
also comprises all site activities including removal of old
equipment and installation of new equipment, as well as
modifications to adapt a new two stage operation steam
cycle.

The signature of the contract took place in ALSTOMs
Belfort factory on the occasion of the technical visit
organised for the Teollisuuden Voima Oy (TVO) Central
Management.
