Philippe Mellier succeeds Michel Moreau as President of
ALSTOM Transport

As announced on March 12 by Patrick Kron, ALSTOM Chairman and
Chief Executive Officer, within the context of an overall
reorganization and action plan covering the different sectors of
ALSTOM, Michel Moreau is leaving the company. He will be replaced
as of May 1, 2003 by Philippe Mellier, who will join us from the
Volvo Group.

Until this date, Gérard Blanc, Deputy President,
Transport sector, is Acting President, Transport sector.

Philippe Mellier, born in 1955, has been Chairman and Chief
Executive Officer of Renault Trucks since 2000 and is a member of
the Volvo Group Executive Committee. From 1999 to 2000, he was
Senior Vice President, Market Area Europe at Renault SA. Prior to
that, he had a long career at Ford Motor Company, including
senior management responsibilities in several countries.
