ALSTOM has won an order for a 93.7 MW industrial steam turbine to be delivered to the Beatrice site in Nebraska, USA. The customer is TIC-UE (The Industrial Company-Utility Engineering).

The ST6 turbine is a dual-casing machine, comprising a high pressure turbine and a low pressure turbine, driving a common generator. The advantage of the dual-casing configuration is that each module operates at different speeds to provide optimal overall performance.

The ST6 turbine will be used for power generation in combined cycle. It will be delivered from ALSTOM's manufacturing facility in Finspong, Sweden, which is also the lead centre for ALSTOM industrial steam turbines. Delivery time is scheduled for March 2004 and commissioning for autumn 2004.

The ST6 was selected on the basis of proven premium performance and its high reliability for the frequent and fast starting operational needs for this specific application.

The ST6 is one of the recently consolidated family of ALSTOM industrial turbines ranging from 1-100MW. The flexible design of the ST6 permits outputs of 10-130 MW depending on the customer's operating conditions.
